ABOUT ARK HOUSING

founders bw_edited.jpg

Ark Housing Association was set up in 2007 with a focus to deliver good quality accommodation and supports to those experiencing homelessness in the Bray area. With the assistance of CAS funding, fundraising and donations, Ark Housing purchased and converted a property in Bray to provide six units of accommodation for homeless men who would benefit from support that would help in the transition from homelessness to independent living.

Ark Housing Association is a practical, community approach to addressing our current housing crisis and we are concentrating on delivering housing and support services in Co. Wicklow to help participate in reducing the numbers presenting daily to register for emergency accommodation.

Driven by this mission Ark increased the housing stock to provide twenty additional properties for families, four more individual units and are currently in the process of two further acquisitions which will bring the numbers of those housed by Ark to over 100 with over 60 of those children.

LETTER FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ark Housing Association was set up as a supported housing programme aimed at people who are seeking structure and stability in their lives.

It also functions as a front-line service for those seeking advice and help on housing issues.

Ark also endeavours to help provide the individual supports required by residents in order to address issues to relieve immediate stresses.

Going forward, our goal and ambition is to grow the organisation, and live by our vision and mission statement which extends to providing more good quality accommodation and supports to those in need.

We will continue to conduct stock condition surveys and commit to a renewal and repair programme for the properties in line with our health and safety policy.

My thanks to fellow Board members for their commitment and professionalism in helping to achieve our goals and hopefully expand the charity in the coming years.

Finally, we would like to acknowledge the support of the Department of Housing, planning and Local government, our funders and volunteers that have contributed to our efforts in trying to respond to the challenges facing so many of homeless people in community today.
